What are mobile navigation apps and why do we use them?
Every smartphone comes with at least one navigation app installed by default, such as Google Maps, Here Maps, Apple Maps, etc. Users can easily install a number of free and paid apps available on Google Play, the App store, etc.
Navigation apps allow so-called "Near me" searches or local searches.
You can search by company name if you already know that you will actually be going to a particular location. Most searches are for an activity or service in the area, e.g. "Restaurant in Celje". These searches are done in the exploration phase and the app automatically shows us relevant businesses based on our query or distance.
Users rely on this information - for example, to check opening times, to call a business with a click, and to expect the app to take us where we want to go.
Why is it necessary to publish a company in the navigators?
Navigation apps have become an indispensable tool for finding local businesses. If we want to find a service in our area, we first browse on our smartphone, because we want to get information anytime, anywhere - instantly.
All local businesses that customers visit at their physical locations should be easily accessible on all navigation media, as customers may overlook them and be frustrated if the information is incorrect.
In fact, 4 out of 5 users search for local services on their smartphones, with 76 % of these local searches resulting in a call or visit.
If a company wants to organise visibility in navigation apps and portable navigation devices such as Garmin, as well as factory-installed in-car navigation, it needs to enter key location data into the relevant platforms from which the apps draw their data. The most well-known are Here WeGo, Tom Tom, Google maps, Apple maps, Waze, Navmii ...
[INSTRUCTIONS] HOW TO PUBLISH A BUSINESS ON MOBILE NAVIGATION?
The procedures for publishing a company are not complicated, but they take a long time. It also requires a great deal of patience, as each platform has its own conditions and deadlines for publication.
-
Create user accounts
First, create a user account on each platform where you want to publish your business. Each platform has its own process for publishing and verifying your details.
-
Prepare data for publication
Prepare the minimum required information for publication - usually title, address, contact details, description, geo-coordinates... Some platforms also allow you to publish additional content such as images, logos, attributes, etc. We recommend that you publish as much information as possible to improve search results.
-
Publish and validate your data
Enter your details in the appropriate format in each platform and wait for confirmation. Some platforms will send you an automated confirmation to your email, some will send you a phone call or a postcard with instructions on how to confirm your entry.
-
Check and update your posts
The platforms are constantly running new versions of the maps and updating the data. Some release updates on a monthly or quarterly basis, others only once a year, such as many car manufacturers. Therefore, after releases, it is necessary to regularly monitor and check that the data is still visible or up-to-date.
